- clipping mask layer : the base layer defines the visible boundaries of the layers that's clipped to it
- symmetry drawing guide : 'rench' icon > drawing guide 'on' > edit drawing guide > select 'symmetry'
- mask layer : allows you to hide or use as much of any one layer as you like

- backgound gradient : soft brush + gaussian blur
