- clipping mask layer : paints will only stay on the clipped layer
- alpha lock : only be able paint within the layer
- layer blending mode 'add' : brighten the layer
- layer blending mode 'multiply' : darken the layer
- mask layer : allows you to hide or use as much of any one layer as you like

* effects
- background grdient : soft brush + gaussian blur
- glowing mushroom : layer blending mode 'add' + airbrushing > soft brush

* brushes
- outline : calligraphy > monoline
- background : airbrushing > soft brush
- background drawing : airbrushing > soft airbrush
- texture on foreground : texture > currawong + charcoals > burnt tree
- mushroom reflection : luminance > lightbrush
